Decentralised, edge-based energy flexibility
Every building is a power plant. Energy Coop runs it.
A portfolio of buildings is a bigger power plant.A portfolio with a few BESS connected to the biggest units…is an even bigger power plant.
The last mentioned turns the portfolio's owner into a market maker*. Either way, whether it's one building or hundreds enriched with a couple of BESS, Energy Coop runs it.
* It is a negotiation weapon!
A new revenue stream,
and the upper hand
Property owners, funds and municipalities… those who will pay for the rising energy costs of the data centres boom, can now turn the flexibility already in their buildings into a new revenue stream, and shift the balance of power in their next electricity negotiations, knowing exactly what their flexibility is worth. Adding batteries to the same process increases flexibility and strengthens the negotiation position further.
Proven in a 2025 municipal pilot
11.4%
cut in annual electricity costs through optimisation
+4.2%*
new revenue stream from flexibility trading
15.7%

> 25 %
baseline for the total benefit once 3 to 7 small/mid-size BESS have been added
* By adding BESS to the equation, this doubles or triples depending on the BESS add-ons.
Read the model to earn →On the customer's side of the table
Many Battery-as-a-Service offers tie customers to five- to ten-year contracts and fixed prices, with much of the revenue flowing back to the investor and the service provider. Truman Data turns that around: property owners planning investments in battery energy storage systems can have Truman Data calculate what their BESS-equipped buildings would save and earn on Energy Coop before committing to any BESS vendor.
As Truman Data doesn't sell or own its customers' BESS assets, we can stand on the customer's side of the table. We help customers arrange financing for their BESS solution without any long-term lock-in, and we earn through Energy Coop PaaS and only the agreed share of what the customer earns — and if our customer doesn't earn, we won't either. The customer keeps control of both the value and the investment.
Demand for flexibility will keep growing
In Finland, national transmission system operator Fingrid said in August 2026 that projects with signed grid connection agreements, led by data centres and electric boilers, would raise Finland's electricity consumption by nearly 40% from the 2025 level if all were fully implemented, and that more balancing power and flexibility will be needed. Yes, we too see the need for more demand response capacity… but on what and especially on whose terms? In that, Truman Data, as an end-customer-focused company, has seldom agreed with the markets.
